2020/2021 CLUB AWARDS

The John Hutchinson Award

John Hutchinson was a member of NHD who sadly passed away on the beach from a non diving related illness after a successful dive. His wife funded the award in John’s memory - it is awarded to a Club member who has exhibited great dedication and hard work during the year.

For the third year running, this award was presented to our training officer Fran Iosue, for her contribution to the club activities this year. She had arranged all of the training for a number of members, but recognised and was grateful to Paul Beckett and John Reynolds for their help and support with the training, especially at the pool and open water sites. Despite the hard times we've all suffered this year, Fran organised some very successful club dive trips. She has continued to manage the club WhatsApp groups and her enthusiasm for the club has motivated members to go diving.

The Mike Deeble Award

This award was kindly donated by Mike Deeble, to be awarded to the year’s most enthusiastic Club diver.

This year as recognition of his great support to Fran and to the training schedule, the award goes to Paul Beckett, our club diving officer. Fran stated that without Paul's help, she would not have been able to get through the training as well as it has been done and in the timely manner that it has, especially within this lockdown. This year Fran and Paul have been the only active open water instructors for the club, who have dealt with a great deal of students, from levels varying from ocean diver to dive leader.

The Kindred Award

This award was donated by Garry Tame in memory of his late mother in law, Peggy Kindred, who sadly died of cancer in 2009. It is awarded to the year’s most enthusiastic diver.

This award was presented to our new membership secretary Massimo Galli, who participated in 60 club dives this year.

The runner up was John Reynolds with 55 club dives and in third place, Fran Iosue with 49 club dives
