Latest Dive Trip Information:

Lyme Regis Boat Dives 27th June and Chesil Cove Shore Dives 28th June. Dive Organiser Garry Tame

I'm organising a dive with Blue Turtle Dive Charters for the Friday 27th June. We need a minimum of 4 divers to make this viable before I go ahead and book this. We may be able to dive any of the local wrecks, but I'd like to dive the St Dunstan, which sits in about 30m to the bottom, 25m at the top of the wreck. This will be open to Sports divers and above only. Web link is http://www.blueturtle.uk.com/

I'm proposing that we go down on the Thursday for two dives on Friday (you need a minimum of two cylinders as boat does not return to shore between dives). The cost is £45 for two dives which includes lunch on the boat.

The next day there will be a high tide at Chesil Cove at 1:00 pm, so I'm proposing to use the Saturday 28th June for shore dives, which will be open to everyone.

If you are interested in any of these, please let me know.

There is plenty of local accommodation at Lyme Regis, which can be sorted out nearer the time. Friday night for those diving with Blue Turtle, it would probably be best to drive up to Portland and stay there over night if you intend on doing shore dives the next day.

Chesil Cove Dorset. Dive Organiser Garry Tame

This dive is organised for Sunday 27th April. The primary aim of this dive trip is to get some of our new Ocean Diver trainees in the water for their first sea dive. It will also be a great opportunity for the more experienced divers to get back into the water for a start of session dive. We have timed this dive so that we will have a high tide around 1pm, which will give a max depth of about 15m. However, this site can be dived at any state of the tide, and there is only a very weak tidal current here, so it's very safe. The only time this site cannot be dived is if we have a strong South Westerly wind, then it gets to difficult to get in and out of the water due to the waves.

If you are interested in this trip please let Derek and me know if you are going on the dive trip for training, and let me know if you want to come down just for the diving. This is a really good venue, and well worth the effort of getting down there. If you don't fancy driving down on the day, there is plenty of local accommodation in the area.

Swanage Pier.  Dive Organiser Helen Morris.

This dive is organised for Sunday 25th May. The main aim is to provide the current crop of diving trainees with a good open water experience.  Therefore the plan is for a fairly straight-forward, not too deep shore dive going under the pier.  However, I also hope a few of the "older hands" can use this as an opportunity to get in the sea early-ish in the season.  I wanted to do this dive because everyone tells me how good it is and I need to get in the sea in the UK more!

If there is enough interest from the experienced divers not involved in training, I will try and book places on the Shuttle to the Kyarra as part of the trip.

There will be more details coming out in the near future but, as it is a day-trip from the shore, there will be no fee/deposit needed, except for the Kyarra possibly.

Chepstow NDC. Dive trip organiser Tony Marsh:

A Chepstow trip has been organised for Sunday 13th January 2008. POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER
For those of you not familiar with it Chepstow is a former stone quarry, now a multi-level dive site, from 6 metres to 80 metres, with plenty of artefacts including boats, planes, shipping containers, swim-throughs (plastic pipes at about 15metres), an APC etc.  It's between 2 and 3 hours away, depending on how precious your licence is to you, close to the old Severn bridge.

If you're not interested/can't make it don't worry about replying, but if you would like a pre-Christmas dip please get back to me asap and let me know what max depth you want to do on your first dive.  There is an opportunity for experienced divers to sort themselves out for a 50m+ bounce, if there are any improving Sport or Diver Leaders I'd be happy to accommodate experience dives from 30m to 50m.

Scapa Flow. Dive trip organiser Jerry Crockford:

There are still a couple of places left on the Scapa Flow liveaboard trip on the Friday 5th to the Saturday 13th Sept. 08. For more information, see the dive calendar.

Blue Turtle Dive Charters, Lyme Regis. Dive trip organiser Garry Tame:

Diving with Blue Turtle over the weekend of 18/19 Oct. 08. Cost will be approx. £43  for 2 dives per day, which also includes lunch on the boat. Accommodation still to be sorted when we know who will be going. The trip is open to all diving levels. We require a £20 deposit early in the New Year. For more information, see the dive calendar, or contact Garry Tame.

Latest Club Night Information:

Refresher training and preperation for the first Ocean Diver open water dives of the year, for those who completed the theory earlier, is ongoing in the pool.  We are also in the middle of an Ocean Diver course.  This means that there is a great deal of activity in the pool, so if you want to do any training/practice other than just swimming, make sure you let Derek know so that he can ensure we don't get overcrowded.
